Grant or APC Steering Wheel

Steering Wheel Hub From ZXtuner

Tools Needed:

3/8 Rachet
3/8 Extention
15mm Socket
Breaker Bar
Rubber Malot (If needed)
Universal Steering Wheel Remover

Here are the parts you need to complete this upgrade.

This is what I started out with, Im using a 1993 Escort GT as an example, you can do this on any second and third gen Escorts. Just a warning this will not be street legal on 1994 and up Escorts.

There are two screws on both sides of the wheel, you want to remove them. In this case you could use a Phillips head screw driver to remove them, but a 12mm socket or even torx heads my be used on other Escorts.

Once the screws are out you can remove the cover and or airbag. This Escort has a clip that holds the top in, this will come out with a little force.

Then disconnect the wire harness for the Horn/Cruise Control/Airbag.

With a 15mm Socket and a breaker bar remove the center bolt.

Then attach the Steering Wheel Remover (SWR) to the steering wheel.

As you tighted the center screw to the SWR it will loosen up the wheel.

Then remove the Steering Wheel.

On this car you have to remove the harnes for the Horn and Cruise Control and put it off to the side so you can fit the Steering Wheel Hub(SWH) on.

Install the SWH, and the center bolt.

With and Allen key, put the 5 srews in to mount the Steering Wheel. Attach the horn connection to the center cap and install the center cap

Here is your finall product. Enjoy! COMMENTS: THIS IS PRETTY EASY TO DO, THIS IS ONE OF THOSE MODS THAT COULD TAKE YOU 2 MINUTES OR 45. IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW EASY THE STEERING WHEEL COMES OFF, THAT IS THE HARDEST PART. ONCE THAT IS OUT IT'S ALL GRAVY FROM THERE. ALSO I DID NOT REWIRE THE HORN WIRES TO WORK WITH THE CENTER CAP AS OF YET SO THAT IS MISSING FROM THIS HOW TO.

NOTE: IF YOU HAVE AN AIR BAG, YOUR CAR WILL NO LONGER BE STREET LEGAL PLUS INSURANCE COMPANYS MAY DROP YOUR COVERAGE AND OR REFUSE TO PAY OUT FOR DAMAGES THAT MAY HAVE BEEN PREVENTED IF THE AIR BAG WAS NEVER REMOVED. ALSO IF THE HORN IS NOT ATTACHED YOU WILL NOT PASS A STATE INSPECTION AS WELL AS IT BEING A SAFTY RISK TO YOURSELF AND OTHERS.
